The quality of the air you breathe has a direct impact on your health.
When you can, make sure that you are doing what needs to be done to keep it as healthy as possible. Perhaps you do not realize it, but many pollutants can be found inside the home.

In spite of building standards, it is not uncommon for owners to only detect air quality problems after several years have gone by. Humidity, mold and fungus are all problems you want to avoid.

• Pay special attention to cleaning. Vacuum frequently and choose non-toxic products.
• Prevent stagnant water. Make sure you have a good drainage system and that the foundation of your home is waterproof.
• Ventilating the home. Take advantage of the fresh air outdoors, by opening your windows for a few minutes every day.
• Make your home smoke-free, and if you use fuel-burning appliances, be sure to allow for adequate ventilation.
• Install an efficient ventilation system that takes into account the basement and crawlspace.

Controlling the source is the first step to limiting exposure to indoor pollutants, but good ventilation is needed to improve air quality.
